Areas where you CAN stay:
El Poblado: is the most popular and well-known neighborhood among tourists. It offers a wide variety of restaurants, bars, shopping centers, and vibrant nightlife. However, some areas — such as the surroundings of Parque Lleras — can be quite noisy, especially at night, due to the high concentration of clubs and bars.If you prefer a quieter and more comfortable environment to rest, there are also peaceful residential areas within El Poblado that are ideal for a more relaxed stay, such as La Calera / Transversal Superior, Los Balsos, and Castropol.Laureles – Estadio: A more residential and relaxed neighborhood than El Poblado, popular among both locals and expats for its tree-lined streets and community feel. Known for its great cafés and restaurants. Popular areas include Primer Parque, Circular Area, Conquistadores, and La 70.Envigado: A municipality south of Medellín, more local in feel but with great restaurants and a pleasant atmosphere.Sabaneta: Another southern municipality that combines urban and rural vibes, also popular among expats for its laid-back ambiance.Belén: A more residential area with more affordable accommodation options.Ciudad del Río: Known for its local nightlife and cultural venues.Areas where you SHOULD NOT stay:
El Centro (La Candelaria): While the historic center is safe to visit during the day (especially places like Plaza Botero), it becomes less safe and more deserted at night. Not recommended for accommodation.Comuna 13: A very interesting place to visit during the day — especially for its street art and story of transformation — preferably with a local guide. However, it's not recommended to stay there, and it should be avoided at night.Parque de las Luces and Parque San Antonio: Areas not recommended after dark due to pickpocketing and other risks.Prado, Barrio Trinidad, La Sierra and Barrio Antioquia: These areas tend to have higher crime rates and are not recommended for tourists, especially at night.
